Short Biography

Jelena StefanicBorn in Varazdin (Croatia) Jelena Štefanić began to study singing with Ruza Baldani at the music school of her home town. In that time, she also participated in singing courses in Croatia and Italy. In January 2011 she finished her studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts (classes of G. Lechner/ C. Meier/ P. Esterhazy). With only 16 years Štefanić gave her stage debut in Varazdin as Hyale in Charpentier's Acteon under the baton of Laurence Cummings. In the beginning of her carreer, she performed roles such as Student in von Suppé's Boccaccio, Lehrbub in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Vienna Volksoper and Marusha in Matz's Christmas Tale at the Croatian National Theater. The soprano could also be heard at the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, again in the role of Student in Boccaccio. In 2010 she sang the soprano leading role in a Mendelssohn project, Walpurgistraum, at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna, where she also successfully interpreted the role of Apolon in Gluck's Il Parnaso confuso. In January 2012 Jelena Štefanić made her debut as Violetta in La Traviata at the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek, where she will return in September 2012 in the same role. In July 2012, she made her first appereance as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Semmering Festival in Austria. In 2014 she performed Violetta in La Traviata in Osijek and participated in a concert tour throughout China. This year the young soprano will sing Flora in Charpentier's Le malade imaginaire at the Croatian National Theatre Varazdin auftreten. On the concert platform Ms Stefanic could be heard at both the Graz and Vienna Musikverein. May 2015
