Chris Jones was a member of the Weston-Super-Mare team that won the English water polo championship three times. He won his first international cap against Ireland in 1904 and was a fixture as fullback on the Welsh team for many years. Jones was also an excellent rugby player, appearing regularly for Penarth from 1910 until 1915 when he joined the Army and served with the Royal Engineers and the Hampshire Regiment. After the war he retired from rugby, but carried on playing water polo and won an Olympic gold medal in 1920. He built a successful business in South Wales and was the senior partner in Christopher Jones & Co., a major firm of coal exporters.
