He was, from 2003 to 2016, the director of the French Cinémathèque .Biography Serge Toubiana was educated in Grenoble , then moved to Paris, in July 1971, to attend cinema courses at the University Paris 3 - Sorbonne Nouvelle (Center Censier). From 1973 to 1979, he was the editor-in-chief of the Cahiers du cinéma magazine alongside Serge Daney . He revived the magazine in the late 1980s, renovating it, and giving it a new editorial line more focused on film than on politics (1970s). He also gave the journal a new presentation and a new format. He leaves office in writing in September 1992, with n o 459.He became director of the French Cinematheque in May 2003 and was appointed Chairman of the Board of the National School of Architecture Paris-Malaquais the 29 May 2009 1 . His term of office was renewed on June 24, 2011 2 . He announces his departure from the French Cinémathèque in July 2015; Frédéric Bonnaud succeeded him in January of the following year.He is the companion of Emmanuèle Bernheim , writer, who died on May 10, 2017 in Paris.
