John Patrick Barry

Short Biography

Born in Seoul, Korea in 1974, John Patrick Barry was adopted in 1976 by an American family. Raised in a predominantly Caucasian area in Maryland, Barry was still able to distinguish himself early on as a good student and a young performer. He was always in the choir, in the theatrical performances, and even performed at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Along the way, Barry was an accomplished student, an Eagle Scout, a Merit Scholar, a martial arts instructor, a Western Maryland College graduate, and a Maryland State Trooper. Some awards he received along the way include the the Hampstead Women's Club Award, the Esther Smith Award (for Excellence in the fine arts in college), the Residence Life Best Team Member Award, Waterloo's Trooper of the Year (2000), and a Legislative Commendation for outstanding service. Barry decided to start an acting career when his career as a State Trooper ended prematurely; a drunk driver smashed into Barry's police cruiser which injured him to the point of early retirement.
