John William Nicholson, Jr. (born May 8, 1957) is a United States Army lieutenant general who serves as commanding general, Allied Land Command (since October 2014). Previously he served as the commander of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was commissioned in 1982 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy. Nicholson is the son of John W. Nicholson, also a former general officer in the United States Army. They are both distantly related to British Brigadier John Nicholson.
