Short Biography

Kristen Cornett is an american meteorologist, She joined the 4 Warn Storm Team in october 2007, She provides the weather on News 4 on weekends, You may catch Kristen filling in for Kent on News 4 This Morning during the week, or helping out tracking the storms during Storm Mode Coverage in the studio, In 1999. She earned the seal of apporval from the American Meteorological Society and also a member of the National Weather Association.Kristen grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and became fascinated with Severe Weather at an early age, She can remember standing out on our covered front porch during storms and her parents having to drag her inside, She knows it sounds a bit crazy, But she really wanted to see a tornado, she done some tornado chasing and stood in the eye of a hurricane, She also fascinated by earthquakes and volcanoes, If she couldn't be a Meteorologist, She'd probably be a Selsmologist or a Vulcanologist. She attended the University Of Kentucky initially and thought she would be a doctor, She had a epiphany after her soul searching, Honestly, She don't know why she didn't come up with an idea to work in Broadcast Meteorology sooner.But up until then she always viewed her fascination as just that, She ended up transferring and earned her degree in GeoScience with an emphasis in Meteorology from Mississippi State University, From there it was on to forecasting for Local Television, She began her career at (CBS affiliate) WCBI in Columbus, MS in 1996 as a weekend weather anchor, In 1997, She was a weekend meteorologist at (ABC affiliate) WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL and also worked as a Storm Team Meteorologist at WHAS 11 in Louisvile, KY back in 2001, She was there for three years, and in 2004, She was a morning & afternoon meteorologist at (NBC affiliate) WLWT in Cincinnati, OH, and in March 2006. Kristen became a Staff Meteorologist at NBC Weather Plus where she appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, NBC Nightly News, Early Today and The Today Show. People ask Kristen where she heading next, Honestly, She really tired of moving and having start all over again. It used to be fun but she had her fill, She eager to get involved in the community and put down some roots, Hopefully, you'll be seeing her at KMOV for years to come. She really grown to love St. Louis, She taken all her touristy spots and continue to explore all the great shopping, dining and culture the city has to offer. Outside of that, traveling is her greatest passion, She love to thoroughly explore a new place and its culture, food, sights and sounds, When she do vacation time, She often find herself in the Caribbean where she love to scuba dive and explore the hundreds of beautiful beaches.
