Alexandra Alexandrovna Tegleva

Short Biography

Alexandra Tegleva was a hereditary aristocrat and served as senior nurse to the Tsar’s children in 1902–1918. She occupied an upper floor room in the Alexander Palace next to the grand duchesses’. She volunteered to accompany the Tsar’s family in exile in Tobolsk and then Yekaterinburg. Not allowed in the Ipatiev House and sent back to Tobolsk, she crossed Siberia to Vladivostok, from where she emigrated to Europe together with Gilliard in 1920. Alexandra married Pierre in 1922 and settled in his hometown of Lausanne, Switzerland.
