Born Evangeline Taylor to Clifford Taylor and Diana Howe Taylor, her family moved to Cleveland in her childhood. After the end of World War I, she moved to New York to persue a career as a performer. She landed a job as a showgirl with the 1922 Ziegfeld Follies, and was voted the most beautiful of the 85 showgirls in that year's Follies. Subsequent stage roles led to Hollywood and a contract with MGM. She had a small role in the Gloria Swanson film "Zaza, " (1923), Mary Pickford's "My Best Girl" (1927, in the role of Millicent Rogers) and the Claudette Colbert-Frederic March picture "Honor Among Lovers" (1931, as Maybelle Worthington). She left films in 1931, after marrying Tommy Manville, becoming one of the asbestos heir/playboy's eleven wives, later obtaining a Mexican divorce. Her own six marriages included Ziegfeld Follies musical director Lewis Gess, actor Carlyle Blackwell and her last husband, longtime friend George Robb (d.1986), when she was in her eighties. After residing for many years in Europe, Palm Springs CA and New York's East Side, she returned to the Cleveland area in 1989 and resided in Hamlet Manor in Chagrin Falls. She was survived by a nephew.
