Christina Romero

Short Biography

Christina spent her formative years in Denison, Texas, while still enjoying her Puerto Rican heritage through vacations to see family in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was first introduced to television studio work, enjoying time on set as a child, observing her family working daily for the Puerto Rican television series, "Maripili." In the ninth grade, Christina started acting in school plays, and she began training at Kim Dawson Studios in Dallas. She received partial scholarship to complete her high school education at St. Stephen's in Austin. There, she received several acting awards for her work in plays and musicals. She also directed The 15 Minute Hamlet, and assistant directed Lend Me a Tenor, there. Her senior year at St. Stephen's Episcopal School, Christina was awarded the Anne Dewey Guerin Memorial Drama Award. She was also awarded a full scholarship to Cornell University's Summer College, where she studied Comic Theatre and Acting. Christina graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a Bachelor in the Arts. She received multiple scholarship awards to attend Sarah Lawrence College, including the Gaylord Donnelley Family Scholarship for academic excellence. Christina had leading roles in plays at Sarah Lawrence College, and performed in several plays a year. She completed a year abroad at the British American Drama Academy in London, where she studied all aspects of acting and performed. Christina worked as a theatre and short film producer for the Sarah Lawrence College Downstage Theater her senior year; she participated in Theatre Outreach all 4 years of college, bringing theatre classes to schools that did not have funding for arts programming. She worked off Broadway and off-off Broadway as both a stage manager and actress her first year out of college. She had a lead role in a short film, Give Me the Rose and the Glove that won an Honorary Prize in the Drama International Short Film Festival in Greece, and took her there. Christina's ongoing training and work have continued with many great organizations and individuals in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin. Today, Christina loves film, television, commercial and voice over roles. She is the Director of Voice Boutique Company in Austin, which offers wonderful support services for children with special needs, and produces film, video and theatre works. She is also a contributing artist to Dames in Film and LUPE Arte.
