Emily Brown (XI)

Short Biography

EMILY BROWN has studied all styles of dance and gymnastics since the age of three, predominantly at Dancensations Dance Center in Alexandria VA, under Troy Brown, Pat Hawkes, Gloria Hampton, and Melanie Thurston. She competed Regionally and Nationally, winning both group and individual honors. She performed with Debbie Allen at The Kennedy Center in two of her original productions, “Dancing in the Wings” and “Alex in Wonderland”. Emily had the honor of dancing in Italy and Spain, at the Prix d’Italia and the Prix d’Espana, with The Junior American Dance Company under the directorship of the late Mark Marino, winning the prestigious World Championship Cup three years in a row. She was also a top 32 finalist in Season 4 of Fox TV’s “So You Think You Can Dance”. Most recently, she has performed with “Tap City” in NYC and “The First Annual DC Tap Fest” directed by Chloe Arnold and Jason Samuels Smith. She was also selected to perform at “Broadway Underground” – an off Broadway show in NYC headlined by Jared Grimes. She has performed locally in productions by the Alexandria Opera Company, as well as many fundraisers and local benefits. She is a member of MetroTap and Rhythm and Bleu Tap Companies and teaches and choreographs at two local dance studios. Emily is currently a Dance major at George Mason University in the BFA program.
