Lary Crews

Short Biography

Lary Crews began his background acting career in 1979 when he was hired as the personal assistant to director Robert Altman on the ill-fated feature film, Health, shot on location in Lary's hometown of St. Pete Beach FL.Over the next twenty years, while pursuing a career in journalism and education and writing four books, Crews appeared as an extra in many of the feature films shot in Florida, including Black Sunday, Body Heat and Licence to Kill.On the advice of his mentor Robert Altman, Crews moved to Los Angeles in 1998 and has pursued a career as a professional background actor in feature films and TV while writing his fifth book, Background Acting (due out 5/5/2010).Most recently, Lary has appeared in the TV shows Hawthorne, Raising the Bar, The Office, Cold Case, Heroes and Sons of Anarchy and in the films The Hangover, Ground Zero and Funny People. He is a founding member of the Professional Background Actors Association.
