Mischaela Advani (born March 27, 1989) is an American international pageant titleholder, beauty queen, and UN advocate who won the title of Miss United Nations USA 2015 on the 69th anniversary of the formation of the United Nations. She is a graduate of Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, which has historically been ranked as one of the elite business schools in the US by BusinessWeek, U.S. News & World Report, The Economist Intelligence Unit, and other business news outlets. Mischaela studied Business Administration with a focus in Marketing & Finance. While attending college she worked as a print, runway, and editorial model with Elite Modeling Agency. Pageant and Platform Her 2015 campaign platform was to advocate for women and children’s rights and as part of this platform she served as an ambassador for UN campaigns: “Girl Up”, “Girls Count”, “Every Woman, Every Child” and agencies UNICEF, UNFP, and UN WOMEN. She has completed coursework with the UN Institute for Training and Research in Geneva, Switzerland. She studied Japanese for 4 years, and is currently picking up Hindi. Prior to her crowning, Mischaela was an advocate for the United Nations agenda and still serves on the Advocacy Committee for the United Nations Association and as a Committee member for the United States National Committee for UN Women. In 2012 she delivered the closing address for the 67th annual United Nations Day celebration, the topic of her speech was the prevalence of human trafficking in the United States contrary to popular belief. Her platform for 2015 is to support the United Nations agenda and work with organizations and entities that promote the empowerment and education of women and girls. Just two days after being crowned, at an October 26th private press conference and political rally, she was asked to stand behind former Governor Pat Quinn and women's rights activist Gloria Steinem in support of Quinn's "pro-woman", "pro-family" agenda. In early November, Mischaela attended a private panel discussion with the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics and Dr. Gary Samore on the Iranian nuclear arms negotiations. During her reign, she was invited to many high profile events such as the 69th anniversary party of the formation of the United Nations, a private press event with women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem, the UNICEF masquerade ball, a private reception with the Hong Kong Trade Council, and a private discussion on the "art of diplomacy" with former Prime Minister of France Dominique de Villepin, among others.
