Short Biography
Ricki Hall, model, 26 years old, AKA The Unlovable Heartbreaker from Wolverhampton currently residing in Brixton, London. Name and facts, but who is Ricki Hall, and why has he become a model phenomenon in record time? Having been part of the fashion scene for some time, we think it is fair to say that we have posted our fair share of Ricki Hall photos over the last two years. Today, we dwell deeper into the person that is Ricki Hall, his modeling portfolio and his rise to fame. - What most people do know about Ricki Hall is that he is one of the roughest and best looking chaps in the fashion industry and has taken the social media scene with storm accumulating more than 170 000 followers on Instagram and Twitter alone over the last three years. We put his immense popularity down to his James Dean aura combined with an awesome beard and eyebrows not to mention some serious tattoos. (He has 125 of them.) He is successful in the modelling industry because of his trademark beard/tattoo look which is trending, (he set the trend himself), and online because he does not pretend to be something he is not. He makes an effort to be nice to the people he meets whether that be in real life or online. Always happy to post a personal photo or have one taken with a fan, he is endearing and real. He is what he is, and based on the interviews that he has done so far it is obvious that he does not take himself to seriously. What you may not know is that as a child Ricki loved The Boy From Mars and ZZZap, and that prior to getting his first modeling contract he worked in the family business as a motorbike mechanic, drove a BMW and wore eyeliner. We think he has outgrown the eyeliner and the shows by now, but his love for motorbikes and BMW’s is intact. In fact, we know he would love to have an M3.His modelling career took off after a scout approached him as he was walking out of Topman in Oxford Street. That same day he signed for Nevs Models. Since then, things have moved fast and Ricki is now living here in London not far from the people of Just The Design. Yup, this city is the epicenter of the world. The fact that Ricki lives here proves it.One of the reasons why Ricki ended up with a beard was because he got fed up with all the pretty boys of the fashion industry. In his own words: “You can’t get more manly than a hairy man, that wears a musky cologne and smells of dirt, cigarettes and beer.” A viewpoint which is refreshing but in stark contrast to the look and feel of many of the male models around.During our investigations we have learned that Ricki Hall uses the Texan brand, Bearded Bastard, when it comes to keeping his beard silky and smooth. Hell, they have actually made him his own personal smell from their Woodsman moustache wax and beard oil range. He also uses Murdock of London’s Lube and moustache wax from Uppercut Deluxe. He spends around 15-20 minutes every morning taking care of it all while drinking his coffee with six spoons of sugar. OK, so having a beard that size is not easy, and we have found out that Ricki does have a problem eating cereal, (he eats Wheetabix), soup and burritos. Well, Ricki, then don’t eat it. Whatever, you choose to do, the beard stays.Pressed on which are his favourite tattoos, he will tell you that he loves his McD Golden Arch, his Mr Men character and Mr Messy. In a more somber mood he may tell you about the coffin tattoo which covers the name of his ex-girlfriend.In the summer you will find that Ricki Hall dress down to the bare essentials. Classic Dr Martens or brogues, a white vest/tee and skinny jeans from either Cheap Monday, Nudie or Monkee Genes. Come winter time he’ll be in a suit and coat. Stylish, all year around. The Stranded Sailors asked him to describe his own style. This is what he had to say: “1950’s new York work wear with a nod towards 1930’s English gentleman and a sprinkle of the 1980’s skin head era.” His other favourite brands include Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, JLSA Icons and Fred Perry. We love it.Asked about his own style icons he he mentions Johnny Depp, Nick Wooster and Peter Doherty as top of his list. Besides that, he has got a thing for Danny Dyer. Less surprisingly he thinks that Agyness Deyn, Kristin Stewart and Helena Bonham Carter are some hot ass chicks. We agree with you on the girls, Ricki, but Danny Dyer. Seriously? Before we go, we think you ought to pick up the October issue of Men’s Health where Ricki is featured, and check out the The Shoes’ ‘Time to Dance’ music video with Ricki Hall and Jake Gyllenhaal. Pretty awesome stuff if you ask us. On a side note, we think that Ricki would have fit in perfectly next to Daniel Day-Lewis character Bill “The Butcher” Cutting in Gangsters of New York. Yeah, we’d go as far as to say that we think Ricki has got a future in movies
