Short Biography

Born & raised in Kingston Jamaica, Shanna is a graduate of Wesleyan College where she majored in Psychology, Communications and English Literature. A life-long lover of the arts, Shanna went on to attend California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where she earned an MFA in Acting. During her time at CalArts, Shanna has collaborated on a plethora of projects including most recently, Funnyhouse of a Negro (Sarah), In the Blood (Bully/ Welfare), The Diviners (Norma Henshaw), Crumbs from the Table of Joy (Ernestine) and Big Momma and ‘Em in the title role of Big Momma. Additionally Shanna has worked on short films, animated works and experimental theatre pieces such as Compatible, Iglaa II, Malachi's Wish and My Penis: An Exhibition. Shanna wishes to extend a special thanks to her family and friends, without whom she would not be able to laugh as heartily at herself everyday.
