Schambeau was crowned Miss D.C. on July 9, 2005, and also competed in the Miss America 2006 pageant held January 21, 2006, where she finished as 4th runner-up. Schambeau was succeeded by Kate Michael as Miss D.C. on July 1, 2006. Schambeau also competed in the 2007 Miss District of Columbia USA pageant, finishing as first runner-up on December 9, 2006.
