Short Biography

Christian Vincent was born in 1966 in Santa Monica , CA . During the 1980s Vincent studied art at the Brentwood Art Center in California , the College of Design in Pasadena and at the California Art Institute in Valencia , CA . This successful emerging artist has become a renowned around the country especially after he won the first Julius Hallgarten Prize at the 169 th Annual Exhibition of the National Academy of Design in New York City .Vincent's works are so fascinating because he applies contemporary narrative themes in a film-noir palette. Art critics have compared Vincent's work to that of Odd Nerdrum in that they both use the same dark, rich tones which accompany underlying social commentary. The difference between Vincent and Nerdrum is that Vincent's social commentary is more obvious as it portrays his view of American 20 th century industry. Each work is contemporary yet non-specific to a certain era. These aspects give Vincent's paintings a narrative quality and invite the viewer to contemplate and reflect on the depicted scene.Although he is still considered an emerging artist, Vincent has had many sold-out exhibitions in New York as well as in California , Chicago , and Atlanta . In 1998, Christian Vincent was included in the Arnot Art Museum 's "Re-presenting Representation III" in Elmira , New York . He has also taken part in exhibitions at the Forum Gallery in New York and Los Angeles , the Fay Gold Gallery in Atlanta , GA , and at the Harajuku Art Festival in Tokyo , Japan .
