Short Biography

Rarriwuy Hick is an actress, known for The Outlaw Michael Howe (2013), Redfern Now (2012), Redfern Now: Promise Me (2015), The Gods of Wheat Street (2014), The Broken Shore (2013), and Cleverman (2016).A young Yolngu woman from a remote community in North-East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Rarriwuy credits her mother, Janet Munyarryun - a founding member of the Bangarra Dance Company, as being her greatest inspiration.In addition to being an actress, Rarriwuy is also a professional dancer and choreographer, who combines traditional Indigenous dance with contemporary styles. She has performed at a number of high profile events including the 2004 Deadly Awards, the 2005 Danish Royal Visit and the Sydney Dreaming Festival 2005-08. Founder and choreographer of the dance group YAPA MALA, Rarriwuy choreographed a dance piece performed for the former US Vice-President Al Gore, and has appeared as a guest-host and choreographer on the Australian television show Move It Mob Style.Rarriwuy's theatre credits include the lead role in Wrong Skin (Ngurrumilmaramiriwu) and Bloodland with the Sydney Theatre Company and the Bangarra Dance Company.
