Birth: Jun. 2, 1878Death: Dec. 6, 1957Actress. French-born character performer in Hollywood films. She played housekeepers, nurses, and landladies of the Gallic variety, with an occasional society matron thrown in. Her credits include "God Gave Me Twenty Cents" (1926), "The Trial of Mary Dugan" (1929), "Svengali" (1931), "What Price Hollywood?" (1932), "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936), "San Francisco" (1936), "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle" (1939), "The Song of Bernadette" (1943), "To Have and Have Not" (1944), "Million Dollar Mermaid" (1952), and "Les Girls" (1957). D'Ambricourt was born Adrienne Dunontier in Paris, and came to the United States after World War I. During the early talkie era, before dubbing became standard, she appeared in French-language versions of American movies. D'Ambricourt made some 80 films.
