Carlos Núñez

Short Biography

He is a Spanish musician, born in Galicia, an exceptional virtuosity, considered one of the best bagpipe player of the world. In 2004 participated in the banda sonora of "Mar Adentro" the film`s director Alejandro Amenábar.He began playing the Galician bagpipe at eight years old. He studied at the College Martin Codax (in Vigo). For the twelve, was invited to play in the Symphony Orchestra of Lorient in 1989 and recorded alongside the Irish group The Chieftains the original soundtrack of the film Treasure Island, which would continue to work to be known as the seventh Chieftain. Núñez also completed his formal education in obtaining the qualification with honors and Extraordinary End Career Award (Cum Laude) in the instrument flute peak by the Madrid Conservatory. Carlos Núñez is a tireless scholar of Celtic music and in the international arena is considered a scholar of the topic. Their investigations are still basically two lines interrelated: the origin of Celtic music and its fusion with world music today. His interest in the subject has led him to travel the globe and interact with musicians and artists from the countries he has visited, and then translate their knowledge and experiences in his prolific discography.
