Short Biography

Casey Anthony (born Casey Marie Anthony on March 19, 1986 in Warren, Ohio) is an American best known for her involvement in the murder trial of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Growing up in Florida, Casey was a personable and bright girl but developed a habit of lying. When her family attended her high graduation, they discovered Casey was several credits short of completing her degree. At age 19, she became pregnant, but the child’s father was never determined. In August 9, 2005, Casey gave birth to Caylee Anthony. Casey initially thought of giving her child up for adoption, but her mother, Cindy Anthony, persuaded her to keep Caylee. In June 2008, Casey and Cindy had a fight, with Cindy calling Casey an unfit mother. Casey left with Caylee, and did not return for 31 days. On July 15, 2008, Casey’s parents reported Caylee missing and Casey confirmed that Caylee was gone, claiming she had been kidnapped by nanny Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez. This was determined to be a lie. Caylee’s remains were found in a plastic bag near the Anthony family home in December 2008. Casey was arrested and the trial began in June 2011. She was found not guilty of first-degree murder.
