Emmanuelle Honorin

Short Biography

Emmanuelle Honorin was born in 1968. A graduate in ethnology from the University of Paris VII, she works on the possession cults in Morocco. She then carried out numerous fieldwork, particularly in North Africa, the Caribbean and South America.In 1995, she discovered Haiti through the creation of a photo-text article in Géo magazine. For the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, she designed the program Le Bal Loa in co-production with the Grande Halle de la Villette and the City of Strasbourg and directed the recording of the bard Ti-Coca in Europe.Since 1998, she has been responsible for world music at Géo magazine. In the section "Géomusique" she recounts her musical journeys. In 1999, winner of the Villa Médicis outside the walls, she continues her work on the marronnage of the music of the Caribbean zone through photos, texts and sound. In collaboration with Charles Najman, writer and director, it constitutes in a disc Fund of Negroes / funds of whites , the first census of peasant musics of Haiti. In 2000, she was a co-author of the film, Les illuminations de Mme Nerval , directed by Charles Najman. Passionate of tango, she programs the Monthly Music Trade Shows Contradanza and Creole Ball at the Bellevilloise in Paris.
