Short Biography

I am a soulful artist making my way into the world. I, Isis Arruda found myself attracted to the art, culture, and pure style of New York City witch in turn inspires my work.Born on November. 15, 1982 in São Paulo, Brazil and immigrated to the states with my parents at the age of two landing in Los Angeles. At the age of eleven I moved to Miami, Florida where I completed high school and college.During this time I modeled and never really thought about being an artist. I started painting in the year 2000. I discovered I had a passion for painting when my uncle ( an artist himself) gave me a sketch book and some pastels. Never having studied art or developed techniques, I paint truly from the heart. I am inspired by the faces of the many people that surround me.I start by taking a snapshot of my subject and transferring that to the canvas capturing what the eyes and the soul of the subject says to me at that moment. I have to say that I'm a very passionate and emotional person and I know I transmit that in my paintings.I always paint when I'm in love or heartbroken. My favorite artists are Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Michelangelo and Gustavo Klimt.
