The sweet-natured and always lovable brunette, Joan Peers, was born in Chicago, IL on August 19, 1909. A former child star, she began her career touring with Guy Bates in The Masquerader and appeared as an extra in Mary Pickford`s Rosita (1923). With her well-developed body and perfect speaking voice, Peers charmed audiences playing Helen Morgan`s convent educated daugter in Applause (1929) and eclipsed Ginger Rogers` performance in The Tip-Off; she also starred in sound remakes of two renowned silent films: Tol`able David (1930) and Over the Hill (1930).
