Short Biography
Kathy Jo Ryan is an independent animator, filmmaker, illustrator, cartoonist, painter, and designer. She was raised by a health nut mom and a cartoonist dad, so foods and drawings were strong themes in her life. Animated characters became very real to her when she was young – she was always inspired and practiced drawing them all the time. Fast forward 10 years, Kathy Jo started a weekly comic strip for the Kennesaw State University student newspaper. After doing that for a year, she took a leap of faith and transferred to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. After lots of all-nighters and sleeping in her car at school, she graduated with a BFA in Animation in Animation and minor in Business Management in 2014.After graduation, Kathy Jo animated kid’s educational content at a startup called Great Parents Academy. From there she started her own LLC and created Melon Head Productions! She now works on various client projects – from animated bumps to children’s book illustrations to logo designs, custom projects and more.
