Short Biography
Luz Whitney was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York. At the age of 7 she began acting in school plays and performed in local theatre. She attended ballet school with her older sister nilsa and danced in regional dance contests. She was a Lambada performer. She played the role of Sonia Braga at the age of 17 in a one woman show. At the age of 18 she was a Miss Hawaiian Tropic Model and Venus Swimwear, at the age of 19 she became a International Swimwear Calendar Girl. She began belly dancing her way into Film and Television. She landed the role of "Dabomb"girl in the Spike Lee film "bamboozled" with actors Damon Wayans, Jada Pinkett Smith, Savion Glover, Mos Def , Michael Rapaport and Tommy Davidson.In May 2004, Ms. Whitney was one of the features actors in Rattlestick productions presentation of "An evening Of three Short Plays", written by Jules Filer and hosted by two times Oscar Nominated Actress Sylvia Miles. The performances benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Rattlesticks Playwrights Theatre. Tony Lo Bianco and Paul Ben Victor were the Lead actors among the cast.In 2003 she starred in a vampire flix titled "Vegas Vamps"Directed by Fred Williamson and starring Daniel Baldwin, Tommy "tiny" Lister, and Richard Roundtree.In 2005 she landed the role of Kylie in the TV series "Pilot Central" directed by Melvin James and starring Ki Toy Johnson and rapper, Trina.
