Mariano Rajoy Brey (born 27 March 1955) is a Spanish politician who has been the Prime Minister of Spain, since 2011 and leader of the People's Party since 2004. Rajoy was a Minister in the Aznar administration between 1996 and 2003 and Deputy Prime Minister between 2000 and 2003. Rajoy was the Leader of the Opposition between 2004 and 2011 under José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's government. He became Prime Minister after the People's Party won a landslide victory in the 2011 election.
