Short Biography
Dr. Peter Hui graduated as class valedictorian from UCLA school of medicine in 1982. He completed his internal medicine residency at UC San Francisco in 1985 and served as chief medical resident at Stanford University medical center in 1985-1986. He received his fellowship training in clinical and interventional cardiology at UC San Francisco, and joined the CPMC medical staff in 1989. He is the Director of the Coronary Care Unit at CPMC and is closely involved in the teaching of medical residents and cardiology fellows.Dr. Hui is a passionate disciple of the Socratic teaching method and is passionate in his commitment to house staff education and training. He is recognized as one of the best teaching attendings at CPMC and has received several teaching awards in medicine and cardiology. He was presented with a lifetime teaching award given by the cardiology fellows in 2006.Dr. Hui has also been involved in clinical research and has been the author of multiple publications. He is currently the principal site investigator for several major clinical trials in cardiology. His special interests are in acute coronary syndrome and percutaneous catheter intervention. When Dr. Hui is not on call, he enjoys martial arts and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
