1987Sam Esposito, A Legendary CareerSam Esposito's career at NC State lasted from 1967 until 1987. He served as head coach of the baseball team (he was also a men's basketball assistant coach until 1978). His career record was 513-253-4, and he was second in career victories at NC State. Under him the team was 1968 ACC regular-season champions and three-time ACC Tournament Champions (1973-1975). In 1968 the team made its only College World Series appearance. Prior to NC State he played 10 seasons in the major leagues. He was ACC Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1986, and he was inducted into the NC State Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009, the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2012, and the NC State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
