Short Biography

Mark Leonard Winter completed the acting program at the VCA in 2005. His feature film credits include Healing opposite Hugo Weaving and Don Haney, The Boy Castaways directed by Michael Kantor, "One Eyed Girl" directed by Nick Matthews, along with Robert Connolly’s "Balibo, " (14 AFI Award nominations), "Van Diemen's Land, " "Blame, " "Playing for Charlie" and soon to be released "Canopy" as well as short film credits "Advantage, " "Hell’s Gates" and "Green Eyed." Mark’s television credits include HBO's "The Pacific" produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, "Winners and Losers" for Seven Network, "Killing Time" for TV1, "Rush" (Series 4) for Network 10 and "The Homicide Franchise: Dr Wainer’s Summer Offensive" for the ABC. Mark also plays internet sensation Detective Larry Hard in "Cop Hard" a webisode series created and produced by makers of "Van Diemen’s Land." In addition to his film and television work Mark works as an actor/writer and director with two of Australia’s most exciting and innovative theatre companies: the infamous Black Lung Theatre and the critically acclaimed Hayloft Project. Both companies are nationally recognized as harbingers of innovative and thought provoking productions and both companies have earned a slew of awards for their efforts. Mark co-wrote and appeared in the Malthouse theatres hit "Thyestes" which ran a sellout extended season and was awarded Best Production, Best Ensemble and Best Adaptation. Mark was also recognized for his performance as Atreus with a best Actor Nomination at the 2011 Greenroom awards. "Thyestes" was remounted by Belvoir St Theatre and the Sydney Festival in 2012 and will be performed at the Holland Festival in 2014.
